Don’t worry guys, this isn’t me giving you dating advice… How awful would that be?! You’d be single foreverrrr! LOL! No matter what platform of online dating it is that you’re using they’re all the same. I can’t say that I’ve been on them all so this isn’t fact it’s fiction however we all know I’m right. I do however hope that this makes you laugh, at me or with me both are okay. 

In this generation finding love is hard, we are unwilling to settle for anything less than what we deserve and why should we? Don’t you believe that what will make you happy IS the best? These days we don’t meet people the old “fashioned way” as my nan says, That’s okay too! Were moving with the times, were busy! A swipe here and there while we use the water closet is more covenant to us in our chaotic lives. This isn’t to say online app dating is for everyone, go to a bar! Flutter those luscious lashes at the sexy guy across from you! Go and sit next to the pretty lady in the coffee shop and pay her a compliment, make someone’s day.

So how do you online date? I believe that a picture is worth a thousand words. Finding your “match” on a dating app is mainly judged on first impressions, your photos, your humour or even your directness can determine your match success. You have to think about your fashion choices, your friends not being better looking than you (sorry truth hurts), keeping the photos up to date!! No one likes a catfish! Avoid photos with your car or ten cats, too many group photos… Which one are you?! or even photos surrounded by the opposite sex.

Then there’s the bio, apparently writing too much can seem boring and too little is unattractive and lazy… We can’t win!! I say the best bio is honest, short and witty. Make your bio a conversation starter. Try your best to not sound negative, things like… “not looking for a hookup!” Or… “no time wasters” you’re not going to attract anyone with that attitude hahaha! Put some of your charming personality into your bio! Be yourself, you attract what you put out there! I personally believe a mans height should not be in his bio we shouldn’t discriminate against height. Okay if you’re a tall girl I understand however, you 5 foot nothing girls… Would you like it if a guy kept asking your dress or bra size?! No? Didn’t think so.

I believe you should be upfront and state your intentions in what you’re looking for, if you’re not looking for the one but just “the one for now” (as my cousin calls it!) Amazing I know, she also gives other great advice like… don’t worry about kissing too many frogs Saffron, it’s called “actively seeking the one”. She’s amazing I know. This basically means if you’re just on these dating apps to find the one for the evening or the one as a regular then just be honest! There will be someone out there that wants exactly what you do and being honest may make them more willing to participate in such wild activities you’ve dreamed up in your head from that photo of them in their bikini… 

So you’ve got your first match? What next! Be an eager beaver!! Send that first message, guys I get it… “Why should the man message first all the time?!” You’re right, you shouldn’t. Basically stop being a lil B and send a message, women this goes for you also! And before you girls say “hello” or “Hi!” is just so lazy or why should I reply to that! I’m sure it’s what you would do if you met someone in a bar right?! The easiest way to avoid this though is to just pick something that stood out to you from their profile and try to crack a joke?

When do we stop talking online and meet in person? Is it safe to meet this person? How do we decide that we want to see that person again? Or even if we want something more from that person? And finally… when do we delete the app? Soooooo many questions and there is one simple answer to them all. COMMUNICATION. Were all adults here just talk, I know easier said than done. I’m being a massive hypocrite here too but that’s me, good at giving advise not good at taking it.

If you’re a lover of catfish like myself, you’ll know there are unspoken rules and regulations to online dating...

Allowing a conversation to drag on for weeks without a date. You may think you’re “connecting”, but you can’t judge chemistry unless you meet up. If you don’t want to see this person again you don’t have too, just be an adult and explain why! I mean don’t be too brutally honest and hurt anyone’s feelings but you see where i'm going. 

Baggage and loose ends be gone! Everyone has a past, an ex or bad previous relationships! Don’t bring this into your new dating life, keep quiet until you know each other better. You'll ruin things by comparing to your pervious expierences not everyone will treat you bad! Have a little faith, don’t let the good one’s escape!

Finallllllyyyyyy!!! Having sex doesn’t make you a bad person or a floozy, and it won’t necessarily ruin your chances of a relationship with that person. If you’re both concenting adults, single and you use protection, it’s your choice! However, if you’d rather wait, then that’s your choice too.

I get asked a lot… Why are you so happy and positive all of the time?! Well, the truth is… I'm not, no one is super happy 24/7, I believe that I am 99.9% of the time and I think that's the perfect amount for me! I wanted to share with you some of the things I do to keep myself happy, positive and proactive… 

Wake up earlier, Seize the day! Make sure you're getting those 8 important hours of sleep! You'll get more done within your day by just waking up that extra hour or so! It will set the tone for the rest of your day, getting your body into a routine can be hard to begin with, it will get easier I promise! Before I go to bed I'll set my alarm then firstly I turn that snooze off, then it goes into do not disturb mode! This just stops your phone from flashing and buzzing while you're trying to sleep but still sets your alarm! Finally, my phone goes on charge and it lives on the other side of my room so I have to physically pull myself out of bed in the morning! Preparing for the next day! This includes setting your outfit or workout outfits ready for the day, it will help to a smoother start! It'll hopefully get you excited to get up! Have a morning routine, breakfast is the most important meal of the day and my most favorite! 

Do something every day that scares you…

Prep your meals! This will change your life, not only will it help you if you're dieting but it will also help if you want to save money, stopping us eating that junk we think we love, making you feel better, it also makes going out for food an actual treat! It also helps for when you get home from work and you're feeling mega lazy, we've all been there… we pick up the phone and call our loved ones… my one true love… Dominos! Have designated days to meal prep for your week, label your tubs and fridge and freezer them up!

I can't control everything in my life but I can control what I put in my body. The body achieves what the mind believes. 

Read more! Reading books or just listening to an audio book can not only help you drift off to the land of nod but it also makes a difference to how we speak how we communicate with one another, it can be any book! Try reading a couple of chapters at least a couple of times a week! Keeping your brain active will help you concentrate on day to day activities. 

There's this moment… when you're reading a book and you loose yourself, you become a part of the book and the whole world around you does not exist anymore. 

Budgeting your month! Or week… however, you prefer! Work out your money that you have coming in each month, then decide on your necessities (rent/bills), whatever you have left you can divide by week or days to cover food shops and other things to keep yourself alive. Whatever you have left then can be popped into a savings account or freeze it… this one is something 100% I need to focus more on, I'm bloody awful with money!! When you actually start looking at what you're spending your money on it will make you feel soooooo guilty… I can't help it that I love buying makeup… it's an actual addiction I swear! You could even spreadsheet this! Whatever works for you, not looking at your account regularly is like hiding your head in the sand and just expecting it all to be okay at the end of the month… trust me it's not okay!

Whoops… I brought Prosecco instead of milk again!

Go for a walk! Or a run or the gym! Fresh air is sooooo good for us! Exercise releases endorphins, releasing these endorphins relieves stress, anxiety's and even depression, if you can't spare 30 minutes three times a week why not spare 10? 10 will turn into 20 and 20 into 30! Things will start to look up I promise! Breathing in fresh air will let you feel alive and just taking this small amount of time for yourself will change your perspective on things!

Something I like to do while I'm walking around is say one nice thing about everyone I see, I don't think I've ever actually told anyone this and it seems weird typing it but doing this makes me feel like a better person and makes my day a lot brighter.

Take a day! This one day a week is where you get your sugar together! No not literally get your sugar rounded up! I mean take this day to do you! This will keep you on top of everything week to week, have a pamper day, go get that wax! Wash, iron and clean! Clean those makeup brushes, plan your week, plan your budget! Prep those meals! Reply to those emails!

Tidy draws… Tidy mind…

Inspire yourself every day! Create a playlist that gets that booty shaking, there are so many music apps out there like apple music, Deezer or even Spotify that know us better than we know ourselves! Save inspirational quotes or photos! Write lists! Write down your feelings! This one really helps me, if I'm feeling stressed or anxious about something I write it down until I'm ready to confront it, this way it doesn't hide in the back of my mind and make me explode like a ticking time bomb. Tell your friends about your day/week or even your hot date! 

Remember… it could always be worse!

If you don’t know me you’re probably thinking what on earth is she talking about… If you do know me, you’ll know I’m talking about Ann Summers! It’s a messy job, but someone has to do it! I had the pleasure of working there while studying my first two years of university in Birmingham, honestly one of the best jobs I’ve had including my current job!!

If you knew me around six or seven years ago you’ll know I wouldn’t have said boo to a goose, my girls from home would always want to go into Ann Summers and I’d run a mile… No idea why when I look back… Bloody weirdo! Anyway I moved to Birmingham for university and I couldn’t stand not having a job, one of my friends dragged me around town handing my CV out and it was the first place I walked into, I walked right up to Hannah one of the most amazing Ann Summers girls and after a brief chat I fell in love with her!

A couple of days later I had an interview, the night before I got quite tipsy and saw Fuse ODG no idea how I made it to the interview… It was the strangest and most fun experience ever… just like any other interview you’ve been to with a twist… I had a budget and within that budget I had to sell products and a scenario to the manager, when I look back I’m surprised Danni didn’t laugh in my face… I’d never in my life picked up a flogger yet I had to talk about why I loved it and why she needed it. Somehow I got the job!!

Ann Summers was not only a job for me but it was a stepping stone in creating this crazy person I am today, the girls that work there and the job itself just gives you this confidence in just being yourself, loving who you are and even every lump and bump. As soon as you walk into an Ann Summers you’ll feel at home, the girls will do their upmost to make you feel good about yourself and will most probably give you a tour of the shop showing you what they love.

Valentines day is coming up soon… not sure about you guys but I’ll be sitting around in my Ann Summers undies with a whole bottle of wine, discounted chocolate and a tub of my two much-loved men. Ben and Jerry, yum!! hahaha!! Valentines was always my favourite time of year to be in the store, I never had a relationship while working there so I guess you could say I never really put my discount to good use hahahahaha!! I did however love helping those poor guys who know noting about underwear yet wanting to treat their better half to something special! You guys were our favourite customers, coming into the shop showing us a picture and thinking we can guess her size! Good job they have a good exchange policy… or even the beauties wanting to surprise their Mr’s on valentines, so bloody cute!!

There are two teams within the Ann Summers staff or sexperts as they’re known, team lingerie and team toys so you know they’ll be an sexpert to help who knows exactly what they’re talking about and can help you get what need, even if you thought you could sneak in and out of the store unnoticed… you can’t! We see you!! We see everything!! They always have offers on in store and online and that’s what I love, any time of the year, it’s not like we need an excuse to buy new underwear but hey!!
